Bardentreffen
Originally started as the “Festival of Songwriters” in 1976, this free event set amidst the most beautiful scenery in Nuremberg’s Old Town has since become one of the best-known events of its kind in Germany.
The themes change annually and there are a dozen stages, some with all-day programmes. www.bardentreffen.de

Classical Open Air
Visit Nuremberg for the largest classical open air festival in Europe.
The Nuremberg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra perform free of charge in the romantic atmosphere of the Luitpold Grove. www.klassikopenair.de

International Organ Week
It is also known as “Musica Sacra (ION)” and is considered the largest and oldest festival for sacred music.
Every year at the end of June / beginning of June, fans of sacred music look up to Nuremberg and into the Old Town churches and the Meistersingerhalle. www.ion-musica-sacra.de

Rock in the Park
This event is not for the faint-hearted or the romantically inclined. Here, an average of 40,000 visitors are treated to 3 days of hard rock and about 90 rock bands. www.rock-im-park.de

Gostenhofer Jazz Days
Every 2 years in autumn, this festival takes place in pubs, bars, clubs, theatres or other venues in and around Gostenhof. The motto is always the same: the highest musical level in a relaxed atmosphere. All forms of jazz up to small deviants with rock and dancefloor are offered. www.gostenhoferjazztage.de

Kaiserburg Concerts
Chamber music at reasonable prices in the candlelit Knights’ Hall of the Kaiserburg. Classical music and pleasure at its best. www.hoertnagel.de
